The Kitchen is the Heart of A Home. After we had lived more than twenty years at 62 Pierrepont Street, this truism became obvious to us and combined with a steady stream of guests and other visitors along with my ongoing interest in photography organically metamorphosised into this multi-decade, multifaceted portrait project and journal of not only the people in our lives, but a tiny glimpse of life in Brooklyn, New York bridging the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. As a photo studio, this working kitchen not only offered convenience and comfort, but also lots of ancillary interest with a window and constantly changing elements of daily life. Four images, usually in less than a minute imposed little burden on the subject and often captured wonderfully candid moments of friends, family and strangers alike.
