Bonnie Erickson and Wayde Harrison as Queen and King chess pieces, 1976
We met on Montague Street on January 12, 1974. We had lunch with mutual friends at the Promenade Café. Chris was going on 5. We alphabetized our books and records. We started collecting together… photographs, toys, crafts, jewelry, prints, furniture, playing cards. Our apartment renovation changed our lives… several times. Always, the kitchen was where everyone ended up. These people – families, friends, neighbors, painters, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, Masons, artists, architects, lawyers, delivery persons, cops, and an elusive FBI agent all passed through our lives and stopped for a moment in our kitchen.
